Is there a way to refresh the in-memory font cache?

For the benefit of future searchers:

I have not seen this problem come back since switching to uswsusp.
Perhaps there is a bug in the default kernel support for suspending,
or some interaction between that and pm-suspend, et. al., I don't
know.

But it's been working reliably for a good while now, so I've mostly
stopped investigating.
