Just to be clear, I'm not the one who posted on SE - they just seemed
to have a very similar issue.
I'm running Debian 7.4, fwiw.

The issue takes a while to show up after a reboot (which I did
recently), so I'll give your and Ralf's suggestions a whirl when it
comes back.
