Yes, it *can* sort of do this but it's not perfect by any means.  I used
it for a while and then got fed up with its shortcomings and I now use
wmctrl which works much more the way I want.  Using wmctrl does mean
that one has to do a bit of waiting for windows to appear before placing
them though.
