Hi Jarno,
I don't think the problem is Simon blocking the project, the problem is that there is no one at the moment maintaining the components Simon used to maintain.
I can try to review your Merge Request as soon as I have some spare time (offline life hasn't been easy for me lately), although it would really really help me (or someone else interested in review) if you could make smaller Merge Requests, I mean, fixing one problem at a time, it reduces the risks of breaking stuff and requires smaller reviewing/testing sessions that are easier to find time.
Finally, thanks for your contribution and bringing this up on the mailing list, I hope we can merge your work as soon as possible, emphasis on the "possible" :)
