Sure, I'll certainly be interested in seeing if people experience any 
issues with these changes, assuming they are accepted. I've just filed 
an account request in case you guys decide to go through with this.

I'll be happy to open a separate bug report for tracking this if it's 
more convenient for the devs but I'm not sure it all belongs to a single 
existing bug like 5600 - there are a few other bugs fixed along the way 
and the changes span two products (xkb-plugin and xfce4-settings). There 
are also over a dozen commits for each so posting them all as separate 
diffs in bugzilla will be somewhat of a pain...
