problem upgrading 4.4 to 4.6

Try xfce4-settings-manager.  xfce-setting-show is left over from the old 
settings system.  Fbsd doesn't properly uninstall old versions of 
software when you upgrade, I guess.

The 'Settings' submenu of the xfce menu would have helped here...
