xfdesktop changes ?

The apps menu is now a submenu of the desktop context menu when 
file/launcher icons are enabled.

Works fine here.

I'm going to guess, though: you don't have libxfce4menu installed, or 
the version you have installed is too old.  configure output should help 
you figure it out.
