changing of gtk theme in svn version?

The User Interface panel comes from the xfce-mcs-plugins package.  Try
recompiling that one and restarting Xfce.  If it doesn't work, look for
messages from xfce-mcs-manager in your ~/.xsession-errors file.

That shouldn't have anything to do with the rest of Xfce.  I know
occasionally screen does odd things to my input settings though...
