ANNOUNCE: xfce-utils

There are several themes relevant to XFce:
- gtk theme
Not managed at the moment.
- xfwm theme
Window border theme. Set in $HOME/.xfwm4rc. Themes are just a
directory containing named pixmaps. There are many of them included in
xfwm4.
- xfce4 icon theme
Predefined icons in xfce4. Again a theme is just a directory
containing images with predefined names. One theme is built-in and
at the moment only one extra theme is provided, the Gnome theme.
This brings us to one important part of XFce 4 that is still missing,
the central control center or style manager. We still need to define a
common protocol to use for xfce. Gtk settings need to be handled through
the xsettings protocol as defined on freedesktop.org.
The xfce configuration file is an xml file. The simple way to create on
is to run the panel and change the settings on the panel. The settings
are saved on exit.
xfce looks for the file in two places, ~/.xfce4/xfce4rc and if not found
there ${sysconfdir}/xfce4/xfce4rc. This last file should be installed by
the package and contain a reasonable default configuration.
The default configuration should ideally be the same or similar to the
xfce3 default configuration.
Hope this helps a bit.
