Whisker menu slow to open

After a reboot I don't have the issue at all but after returning from
suspend / hibernate it occurs intermittently. Restting the vblank mode
fixes it until I suspend again. Not sure why but seems to forget the mode
that has been set. This is with Intel graphics.
