Btw. I start audio production sessions by scripts running terminal
emulations, that run commands such as the sound server jackd.

So I care about best compatibility between terminal emulations. The
compatibility between xfce4-terminal and roxterm isn't perfect, but
it's not to hard to write a script that is able to use
xfce4-terminal or roxterm to run an application.
