PS: Assumed Thunar and GVFS are installed, to get an icon on the desktop, it has to be enabled by the desktop settings. Policy rules might play a role too, IOW the OP perhaps should give more information, e.g. what services are automatically started, when starting an Xfce session. At least I don't know the defaults of the named operating systems.
