I fiddled around with all of that with no success.  Maybe I made some 
mistake, but anyway, I'm now happy with the nouveau driver and removed 
every last thing 'nvidea' from my machine so the last thing I want to do 
it fool around with that anymore.  Sheesh, these video cards seem to 
want 60MB of stuff in a dozen different packages. I don't do any 3D  or 
fancy things at all, I just want good resolution and decent speed.  When 
I look at all that nvidia stuff, I wonder how anyone can keep track of it.
