Sounds like

xfce session can't properly handle 2+ applications with interactive 
session save

Currently I work around by showing a "notify-send"-Message to my users 
at logout "please wait 60 seconds" (a xfce-timeout, afterwards all 
processes with saved and unsaved documents get killed). Not very nice - 
suggestions welcome ;-)
