I was just stating my position, not requesting any action, although I can see 
how one might have understood otherwise.

Per the link I gave in my original post (in the thread about which I assume 
you originated this new thread, rather than replying to the original thread), 
someone already reported this (as 1 of 2 problems, back in May 2009):

But developer Brian J. Tarricone's reply to the issue we're discussing here 
was: 

   I don't intend to allow unmount while the CD is mounted.
   Eject should be the only option.

So there seems to be little point in opening another bug report (just to have 
it closed as "WONTFIX") unless the current developer of that package indicates 
a change of mind in that regard. Otherwise, I'd gladly open a bug report if I 
thought it would be implemented.

Aside: I 'm not even sure who the current developer is. I seem to recall a 
nice page which showed who was in charge of what app/module, but I cannot find 
that page any longer on the Xfce website. Did it get cut or is there a list 
somewhere that I'm missing?
