xfce4-notifyd and support for <br> tag. Do we need it?

I've wrote a patch, that add support for a <br> tag to xfce4-notifyd. 
Another apps, providing notifications (knotify from kde4 and notify-osd 
from Ubuntu) already had it. And I can't remember other apps providing 
this service. The problem is that <br> tag is not in notification specs 
( http://galago-project.org/specs/notification/0.9/x161.html ), and with 
that reason my patch was rejected ( 
http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6247 ). I'm maintaining 
xfce4-notifyd for MOPSLinux - russian slackware clone, and I will 
include my patch in any case. I respect Brian J. Tarricone's decision, 
but may be community will find my patch is useful and good for 
xfce4-notifyd development?
