I hate to say it, but I'd really ask this on a Xubuntu list. IIRC
bat-mon is a goody - basically a third party plugin, and Xubuntu is
beta software. Could be any number of issues, almost all of which you
should _really_ tell the Xubuntu guys so they can fix it.
