Problem with your KDM setup.  Or you installed Xfce to somewhere not in
your $PATH, and KDM can't find it, so it's automatically falling back to

You should install your OS/distribution's package for it.  Look for
something like 'hicolor-icon-theme'.  In the unlikely event it's not
there, you need to grab the source tarball and install it to /usr (it
will probably install to /usr/local by default).

No idea.  Seems like a broken Xfce install.  How did you install Xfce?
Distro packages?  From source tarballs?  The GUI installer?  What distro
 or OS are you using?  These types of information are important for all
new-install problems.
