This is a problem in libnotify, not the daemon. Which libnotify
version are you using (notify-send --version)? Make sure you're
running the latest (0.4.2).

Well this depends on you package system. The 2 daemons both register
the same dbus service, so you need a package that 'replaces'
notification-daemon and also 'provides' the notification-daemon.
