Rich:

I'm maintaining an xfce-goodies package for Slackware -current 
built against xfce 4.2.3.2; however, if you're on 10.2, you won't 
be able to use the package.
As a positive note, I also have a SlackBuild script (actually, 
several scripts) that you can get, download the sources, and 
build a package yourself.  I'm quite certain that the battery 
plugin works on my laptop (even though it's -current), so it 
should also work fine on yours.
