Can this thread please die?  This is getting ridiculously off-topic for
this list, and it's obvious to me that the parties involved are just
rehashing time-honored mailing list arguments/flames, and no one's
really getting anywhere.  Also, I feel like someone bringing up their
academic credentials should be some sort of variation of Godwin's Law.

If anyone feels the need to respond to this mail, you've missed the point.
