Bookmark As a Desktop Icon

For me, (when I have desktop icons enabled), both with the Ubuntu
dapper version, and the svn version, I can right click a desktop
launcher, and create a new "URL Link"

I believe this is what you want? From memory, it's just a .desktop
file in a special format, as I've created them by hand before.
