Thanks, I finally got to install xfce 4.2 on Solaris 5.8.
But now, I have another problem. It came up with the default
panel, which is different from by 4.0 panel, so I wanted to
reset the settings, but nothing came up. So I went to a
xterm and type xfce-setting-show and got the following :

local[sparcOS5:bin] : xfce-setting-show

(xfce-mcs-manager:1188): libxfce4util-WARNING **: Invalid XDG_CACHE_HOME directory `/home/leekk/.cache', program may behave incorrectly.

(xfce-mcs-manager:1188): libxfce4util-WARNING **: Invalid XDG_DATA_HOME directory `/home/leekk/.local/share', program may behave incorrectly.

(xfce-mcs-manager:1188): libxfce4util-WARNING **: Invalid XDG_CONFIG_HOME directory `/home/leekk/.config', program may behave incorrectly.
Error creating directory '/home/leekk/.config/xfce4/mcs_settings': Operation not applicable
Error creating directory '/home/leekk/.config/xfce4/mcs_settings': Operation not applicable

I googled and found that there was a bug 724 that is filed
about nfs mounted home directories (which is what I am on on
Solaris) against xfce_mkdirhier(). Is there a workaround for
this? I would like this to work, since my old installation
is now gone.

Thanks a lot.

James.
