4.2 now in debian testing - questions

Another question:

It used to be (4.0.x) that menus on the panel would "remember" the last 
item invoked; that seems to be no longer so, so that when I pull up a 
menu, I have to re-select the most recent item.  That's less efficient 
than it was!  Is there anything I can set to have it remember?  (This is 
_within_ a session; it never remembered across sessions.)
