Brian,

In the LyX window it's the top two application bars: menu item names and
icons, plus the status bar on the bottom. The very top bar is xfce's
contribution and that's the same for all apps.

In the firefox window the top-most menu bar is normal size. The navigation
bar below it has the same, small font size but the bar itself has a lot of
space above and below the text.

The extra large text in the LyX window (menu, icons, status) is rather
distracting when I'm typing away. Besides, it's out of sync with other apps.
I am beginning to believe that I need to recompile LyX because when I
preview a document the xdvi window is also screwy compared with previous
installations and the copy I run on the notebook. The menu column on the
right of that window is much wider than normal, uncolored and has large
buttons.

Perhaps my installation is wierd. Guess I'll rebuild tomorrow and see if
it makes a difference.

Many thanks,

Rich
