shadow cursor

The other day I suddenly discovered there was a nice drop-shadow on my 
mouse cursor. But all of the sudden it was gone again. I have no idea 
where it came from or where it went, but I'd like to get it back.

So I guess my question is: how do (in general) get drop shadow on the 
mouse cursor?

I'm running xfce under debian/unstable with X 4.3.0.1 and my videocard 
is a Radeon Mobility 9000...
