not related.  xfce4, and all gtk2 apps, don't use xfs.  they use a newer 
font management system known as fontconfig, that doesn't rely on a 
standalone daemon.  if you're running some legacy apps, they can 
occasionally make xfs misbehave.  in my experience xfs causes nothing 
but problems =p.
