I use no other fm but xffm 4.1.x on my main desktop/laptop, so any bug I
find or which is reported I try to fix ASP. At this moment xffm 4.1
seems quite stable with no outstanding bugs. It should work with
libxfce4gui and libxfce4util from 4.0.x (modifying configure.ac), but
you will need to compile and install xfce4-modules from CVS first, and
also update xfce4utils to CVS HEAD. If you use xffm-icons, this must be
updated too since icon locations are currently a moving target.
In the near future I plan to test making the two xffm treeviews
independent (as per requests), a feature which might introduce a few
bugs, so keep that in mind.
