kind of pointless behavior with Mandrake -- their developers will tell
you, every release version is a x.0 in terms of stability. Major version
numbers only indicate the same gcc/glibc combination, everything else is
open to change. The focus is on new and cool, if you want stable use
Debian. I say this as a long term Mandrake fan and club member :-)

To each his own. I have to laugh at the idea of seeking stability with
something like Gentoo, which to my outsider's eye is even more
new-and-cool focused than Mandrake :-) If I ever leave Mandrake, I'll
probably go to Debian testing.
