Hiya Pete

Just a thought: if you wanted a mount /mnt/cdrom and an umount /mnt/cdrom 
applet, you could potentially script these yourself. I don't use the same 
version of XFce that you do (I use the 3.8.18), but if you take any of the 
little launchers on the panel, add icon and type into the command line "mount 
/mnt/cdrom" (sans quotes, of course) and select an icon that works for you 
and add a comment (e.g. Mount CD) and then do exactly the same for unmounting 
then you have your own applet - albeit a poor man's non-programmer version :)
