No sound with xfsound - ??

Is your user a member of the audio group?  Check to see if you can play sounds as root.  Or just check userdrake to see if your user is in the audio group.  If I am not mistaken, Mandrake defaults to a user being in only that users group.  You have to add the others.  Hope this helps!
