I updated gettext from 0.14.6 to 0.16.1 and now I get this error too.

I checked this line 517 and now I think it's a bug of msgfmt. 

Actually, format specification in 'msgid' and 'msgstr[0]' DO match. Both
'msgid' and 'msgstr[0]' doesn't contain '%u' (while 'msgid_plural'
contains '%u'). And if I add '%u' to 'msgstr[0]' the error disappears
but it's not valid.
