symlink in /usr/share/icons

Not working either:
$ sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -v /usr/share/icons/
[sudo] password for crysman:
gtk-update-icon-cache: File not found: /usr/share/icons/icon-theme.cache
$ sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/
gtk-update-icon-cache: No theme index file.

What now? ...
