Yeah well whatever, you don't have to use Xfce.

Xfce has a limited developers team and none of them runs bsd. We still
want to keep up with the (nowadays) basic features, so choices need to
be made and those are not very hard if the majority of the users runs
linux. We don't try to break bsd, but there is no progress in that
area either.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but compared to 4.6, there are no regressions
in bsd; you can shutdown with sudo (polkit and consolekit are
optional) and handling local files and volumes works fine with gio.

So, like with everything in open source projects, you can either whine or help.
