That was also my idea, but I don't know Ali's opinion on this.
Xfce4-power-manager can be used; In that case only the new methods
need to be implemented and a .service file needs be be installed for
org.xfce.Power.Manager (shouldn't this be org.xfce.PowerManager?) so
dbus can auto-launch it.
