I did a "locate xfce4-settings-manager" before writing, which would not 
bring me the right results, now I know. Thank you for pointing that out. 
otherwise, I run xfce(4?) session and xfwm and thunar manages my 
desktop. dont I use xfce?

well, should I bug the awn devs then? I rather not, I think, before 
there is no mechanism to answer above question.
