About xfdesktop with GIO

A clueless question from someone who has no knowledge of the internals
of either Thunar or xfdesktop: Would it be simpler to move desktop icon
support from xfdesktop into Thunar entirely? Isn't it pretty common for
Linux file managers to provide such functionality?
