That's where I disagree (or so). I don't think mousepad is a nice code
editor. Use vim for that (or emacs, or an IDE like geany or anjuta or
whatever).

That's fair. But for that, I think you can start working in a private
branch and submit patches to bug reports. I think that would really help
(even on the stable release)
