I think the point is just which packages goes to the Xfce release, when 
there is a release of the core applications (panel, desktop, window 
manager, session ,conf) the other goodies packages aren't necessarily 
have a new version to release, but they can always be used with the new 
version of course, without having to do a version bump, this gives high 
flexibility to the goodies, the git layout is just a way to describe 
this, they will be in the same place anyway.
