xfwm4 mouse button bindings & window menu

Hi xfce team,

I have a comment about the action of the right mouse button (button 3)
in xfwm4 title bars.

When I first started using xfce, I didn't immediately discover how to
popup the window menu using the mouse because it doesn't work the same
way as every other popup/pulldown menu. Instead of pressing the mouse
button down and getting the menu immediately, you have to first release
the mouse button before the menu appears.

I understand this must have been a compromise because the right mouse
button is loaded with two functions (popup menu, and move window) and
you can't tell which one the user wants to do just from a button-down
event. But I think it's more important to make the menu work as
expected. Until I patched xfwm4 to change this behaviour, I often found
myself pressing the mouse down and waiting vainly for the menu to appear
(or worse, I would anticipate the appearance of the menu, begin moving
down towards the option I would want to select, and end up accidentally
dragging the window as a result!).

I recently upgraded to 4.6 and patched it to fix the same problem. My
patch dedicated the right button to opening the window and moves the
window dragging function to the middle mouse button.

Is there any chance the action of the right button could be changed or
made configurable?

-Phil
