Notification and panel autohide

Hi,

I want to deal correctly with the panel autohide mode.

First of all, when the panel goes into hidden mode i receive a size 
request of 1, is the assertion here correct to say when size == 1 panel 
is hidden ?

When the panel is hidden, and the battery state notification changes, i 
have to send notification to the user, what can i do to show the panel ( 
i guess nothing ). in this case i'll have to don't attach the 
notification to the icon shown in the panel but sure if the above 
assertion is correct.
