New mixer

Ok, I just gave it a try and I didn't have to install as much packages
as I assumed(Debian Lenny). Sorry for the noise.

Anyway, xfce4-mixer doesn't detect my soundcard, the combo box to
select a card is empty. After installing the package
"gstreamer0.10-alsa" it works. Of course, this is not related to your
code but when you write a README it's maybe worth to be mentioned that
the GStreamer Alsa plugin needs to be present or maybe a configure
check could be added.
