Sounds rather silly. Better have a project to fix the upgrade problems 
of GLib/GTK+ for certain distributions, so that this "we need to support 
outdated GTK+ versions"-problem will finally be history and we can spend 
that little spare time that we have on useful stuff. Just my 2 cent...
