about xfce4 panel plugins

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is any way to add an applet from an application to
the panel! i was navigating the source of xfce4.4 panel and i believe this
isn't possible, but just i want to make sure, probably i missed something.

Then i was thinking about the system tray, but another problem i have is the
fact that i can't ask the panel about it's size, is there is any way to do
get the panel size from a systray icon ?
