Making these paths configurable would actually be the next step after
implementing support for them, as far as I understand the concept of
the spec. You would basically let applications retrieve the paths as
per the spec, from the user-dirs.dirs files, which in turn can be
modified in terms of a settings application. I don't know, though, if
any of the existing settings plugins could take over this task, or we
would need a new one. I suppose Preferred Applications could be
extended and renamed to fit this task?
