I can hardly believe you get that much extra time, even if you put the
CPU in C3 all the time, better turn off your display if you want to
save power ;). But anyway, doing to same task using less CPU time is
always better, even for desktop users. Whether this saves power is up
to the kernel and IMHO not even interesting.

But I also agree with Brian. Application like media player are always
CPU active, maybe some more then other, but I think they will always
be too CPU intensive to _really_ save power.

Anyway, we _do_ know that using mplayer is better for listening music
(while running on battery), so maybe we simple need a front-end to
mplayer's command line ^_^ and drop xine-lib.
