Ok, I've cooked a patch for the dev tools, it should be save for the existing packages (except that --disable-debug sets enable-debug=no, so there will be not asserts and checks, but that's up to the user/packages if he/she wants that). It also adds some new macros that are used a couple of times in the Xfce packages.
