Better help making gdm more friendly (instead of another port that
ends up unmaintained), they won't reject patches making it work better
with other desktops, or even better: help improving Slim, since that
dm it very close to what 'xfdm' would be. But it's not worth
discussing that here over and over (and over and over and over....)
again.
