I only took a quick look at the application browser used by GNOME
(which is part of gnome-main-menu now) and AFAICS, GnomeCanvas is not
used for anything there. The library containing structures and
functions for the browser interface is called libslab:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-main-menu/trunk/libslab/
As usual, the code is not what we would our code to look like. Instead
of writing a clean container widget libslab only provides functions for
creating and managing some V- and HBoxes.
I'm not sure, but perhaps we could start with the appbrowser straight
away, without waiting for GtkCanvas.
