Preview patch for xfdesktop

Brian,

Can we please apply the attached patch for 4.4? That way we'll have
consistent previews in all apps (automatically using thumbnails to avoid
loading/scaling the image each time, which makes xfce-mcs-manager hang
currently when using backdrops on NFS file systems).
